As the morning sun began to warm the cool winter air, our team gathered outside the office, buzzing with excitement and a shared sense of anticipation. We weren’t just welcoming a new workday—we were welcoming a new chapter. And what better way to begin than with the rhythmic beat of drums, the clash of cymbals, and the graceful yet powerful movements of the lion dancers?
The lion dance, a cherished Chinese tradition, is believed to bring good luck, prosperity, and happiness. And let us tell you—it did not disappoint. The lions “awakened” with a burst of energy, leaping and twirling to the beat of the drums. Their colorful costumes gleamed under the morning light, and their playful interactions with our team brought smiles and laughter to everyone present.
One of the most meaningful moments of the morning came when the lions approached the entrance of our office. Tied to the doorframe was a fresh bunch of vegetables—specifically lettuce, known in Cantonese as “生菜” (sang choy), which sounds like “growing wealth.” This is no ordinary decoration. It’s a symbolic gesture of prosperity and good fortune for the year ahead.
As the lions playfully “ate” the lettuce and scattered it around, we all cheered. It was a moment full of symbolism and hope—a reminder that with hard work, teamwork, and a little bit of luck, we can grow and thrive together in the coming year.
But the fun didn’t stop there. In true Fortune East Stone spirit, our leadership team prepared red envelopes—红包 (hongbao)—filled with lucky money to distribute to the lion dancers and our employees.
